As in “I took the plunge”…
… and submitted Orchids Ablaze to an online writing contest. I almost didn’t post about it at all! I thought I might wait to see how it turned out first. It was somewhat a leap of faith for me being my first effort, especially because I’m going to have to sell a lot of books to even get the entry fee back if I don’t win! Still, this blog is about the journey and it was a milestone for me, so… there you have it.
Quantity? Quality
I sifted through several different online contests, and there are a LOT of them, because I was looking for one quality contest to submit to. In some instances I like the shotgun approach: fill the sky full of lead and you’ll probably hit something. For now, I went with a precision approach: do the research and reading, put the sights on the target, breath and take the shot. So I ended up on the Chanticleer site [https://www.chantireviews.com/].
It will be quite some time before I hear anything, if I hear anything. Their categories specifically included superhuman/superheroic style and that was the final selling point. If anything comes of it, I’ll post it here. Wish me luck!
