Book 2 Revisited

The second book is moving along. I missed a few regular writing sessions from not feeling well and from attending a convention one weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed the convention and talked with interesting people excited about books. It was inspiring and a little frightening. There are a lot of talented people putting their books (and other works) on display. Making the rounds with an eye toward a table of my own in the future fired up some new ideas. I’ve got some work to do to be ready for a convention.

Time to get back to the hammering out Book #2!

Back to the Forge

I revised the “origin” myth for the Tuarsahzi to smooth out a few rough edges and tighten up the cadence. The “story poem” that I need to setup the epic villain took about 1400 words, but that was largely inevitable given it is a complete story unto itself. A few updates to an earlier short background piece gave me one chapter nearly complete. Another earlier piece on a Tuarsahzi king will be an appendix to the main story. I plan to make it available on the site as well.

As is, the second book breaks down into 23 chapters including the two epic poem sections. That will change as I get into the meat of the project, of course, but it’s a benchmark. Each chapter has the scenes outlined now, with the epic poems complete (but open to revision).

Unlike the first book , the plan is to incorporate different scenes into individual chapters. For Orchids Ablaze, I intended each chapter to stand as a scene with the chapter headers indicating the passage of time between them. I may end up with that structure on the 2nd book, but I want to challenge myself a bit. I look forward to discovering more about the characters, especially the new characters on both sides.
