First book: Orchids Ablaze
In the first installment of the Lodge of the Wolf series, I tried some things outside of what I think of as a “standard” format. The poem/prophecies were one and the chapter heading quotes were another. If you have no idea what I’m talking about, then grab a copy of the book! Go ahead, I don’t mind waiting…. ….
Welcome back! The idea was to have the different prophecies highlight the action and add depth to the story, even if their relevance wasn’t obvious up front. I’m planning to carry the poem/prophecy segments forward into the new book. I’m still on the fence with regard to the chapter quotes. I’ll have to see who “talks to me” when I get into the actual writing.
Enter Book #2
For those of you keeping score at home, I have several possible book titles wandering around in my story notes. I’ll wait until the story gels more to pick a working title and ultimately the final. I have a pretty good idea of where the plot is headed and the initial structure put together. I’m somewhere around 98% complete with the first new “poetry installment” for the second book. This time it’s a legend from the early days of the Tuarsahzi meant to deepen the background of my favorite desert dwellers. After revision #5 or so, it’s about 1200 words and it’s time to move on.
You’ll see more posts (and polls) as I dig into the story!
